All five Card Evenings will be held at the Union Parish Church, Queen St, Cambridge,
commencing promptly at 7.00pm. Each player’s top four points will count towards their overall score.
Everyone is welcome to come along for some friendly rounds of cards – suitable for both learners and regular players. For any children, or non-card players, there will be a variety of board games available, or you can bring your own. And each month, a lucky ‘spot prize’ will be drawn during the evening.
For supper, we will serve baking, together with coffee or tea.
Dates for 2026:
- Friday 8th May: First card evening, as well as Society Jass Competition – scores will consist of the total points from the first three rounds at the first card evening
- Friday 22nd May: Second card evening
- Friday 5th June: Third card evening
- Friday 19th June: Fourth card evening
- Friday 3rd July: Fifth and final card evening, with overall prize and trophy presentation.
Cost per person: $15 per evening

The First of August – Swiss National Day
and also to celebrate
Hamilton Swiss Club’s 70th Anniversary!
We invite you, your family, and friends – to join us to celebrate this special day on
Saturday, 1st August, commencing 4.00pm, at the Matangi Hall, Tauwhare Road.
Cost:
Adults: – members $30.00 – non-members $35.00
Children: – $1 for each year of age, up to 18 years old
The cost includes an initial complimentary glass of wine, beer or soft drink. A donation for further drinks from the bar would be appreciated.
This special First of August function will also include celebrating our Club’s 70th Anniversary. Weather permitting, we plan to have a fire outside, along with a lampion parade.
Drinks and nibbles will be served on your arrival, followed by an early dinner consisting of hot ham and sausages, together with potato gratin, salads and bread.
To officially mark our National Day, you will hear the Swiss President’s annual speech to the Swiss Abroad, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Other formalities will also include the cutting of a special anniversary cake by one of our earliest members, and the raffle draw.
Raffle tickets will be available to purchase at a table from the beginning of the function – please bring along some spare cash and support the Club. Donations to our raffle table are of course always welcome and are much appreciated.
Later, for dessert, we will serve the cake, together with a delicious selection of home-made baking, as well as tea and coffee … and of course, a drop of Schnapps!!

More experienced players can play cards together however they wish throughout the evening. Beginners and learners can play at separate tables to gain some experience and confidence, accompanied with some help and advice from a few of our regular players in a relaxed and non-competitive environment. A selection of board games and other games will be available for non-card players or children.
The cost will remain at $5 per person.
Please bring a small plate for supper, and the club will provide tea and coffee. A few spot prizes will also be drawn at each evening.
