Bernie has been a regular of the Wellington Swiss Club ever since he was a child. He was our treasurer for two years, and last June he was elected president.
Oscar and his wife Sharon live in Wainuiomata, across the road from our clubhouse. They have a lot of adorable grandchildren, including four (soon five!) in Wainuiomata who enjoy coming to our club events with their parents and grandparents.
Flemming has been a member of the Wellington Club for years. He lives in Johnsonville
Trudi comes from Auckland and she joined our club last year. She is the newest member of our committee, and we are very lucky to have her!
Peter is the vice-president of our club. He is a long-standing member of our club, always helping behind the scenes. He is the man behind the Christmas tree that the children decorate during the Samichlaus event, he is part of the team who organise the bonfire on Petone Beach almost every year on 1st August, and he is an accomplished chef who helped prepare many of our delicious dinners.
I am one of those rare Suisses Romands in Wellington, although, we are growing in numbers. I was born in Bern and grew up in Bern and in Fribourg. Our two children were born here in Wellington.
I came to Wellington with Matt end of 2005, joined the Swiss Club almost right away, and the committee soon after. I was the secretary for 3 years, from 2010 till early 2013, and then again since 2016. I enjoy the group of friends I met at the club and the opportunity for my children to learn about Swiss culture and hear some Swiss German.
