Isn’t it great to live in Auckland! It has so much to offer for everyone. Not many other cities are bordering two different oceans and have such beautiful harbours, an interesting landscape with some 60 volcanoes dotted all over and a wonderful mix of cultures. New Zealand is our home now – but Switzerland will always be part of our roots. Some of us are reminded of it many times a day, some just occasionally – when we don’t quite get a joke, when people comment on our accent despite our more or less perfect English, etc.  We feel it is paramount for us and our children to maintain the Swiss connection and tradition. What better way of doing this than joining the Auckland Swiss Club?

Our club is in its 50s, and yet very young. We have a membership of over 150.  Some of them are families, some individuals. They come from all walks of life.  Some have been born here, some arrived a couple of months ago.

We have a wonderful facility overlooking the bush in Kaukapakapa. The small hut was built quite a few decades ago and the pavilion was added to make it a pleasant place to relax in any weather. There is a playground and flying fox for the children to enjoy.  Also on this site there is a shooting range – if this is your passion please have a look at the shooting page and calendar.

The other highlights of the Auckland club are the annual 1.August National Day Celebration and the Swiss Santa, the only ‘REAL’ Santa, straight from the North Pole to the Swiss Farm.   And there are Jass nights, film evenings, walks, carol singing and more.

It needs a bit of work to keep all this happening. We are fortunate to have a dedicated committee, but are always looking for more ideas and more help. Please contact any of us if you would like to participate or have suggestions. We depend on you!

We look forward to seeing you at one of our next events!
