I'm a second generation Swiss aboard and have been involved in the Auckland Swiss Club, along with my family, for the last 7 years. Involvement in the Club is important for me, and my children, to connect with the history of my parents and family. All my grandparents are Swiss. Shooting days, society games and card evenings have been great for our whole family to connect with other Swiss and the culture we can only view through the people that we meet at Club events. See you soon at the next event.

    PositionVice President

In 1989 I visited New Zealand the first time and knew I would be back. Almost every other year I was back and travelled more around the country … in 1995 I stayed and spent the first 5 years in Dunedin. Since 2000 I am a member of the Auckland Swiss Club and sing with the Sing-Fraue fortnightly. I enjoy the camaraderie and speaking Swiss on those evenings.

Originally from Basel, I moved to Auckland in 2007. I enjoy checking out the National Parks in NZ (or further afield), exploring awesome beaches or reading a nice book. If you have any questions on the Swiss Club or would like to become a member, feel free to get in touch.

After an extended holiday in New Zealand I fell in love with the country and its people. I decided to emigrated in 2011 and have been living in Auckland ever since. I very much enjoy the outdoors, reading a good book or watching a trashy movie. Every second Tuesday I catch up with the members of the Swiss Ladies Choir for some singing, chatting and awesome cakes. I look forward to meeting you on one of our events!

My earliest fondest memories are of us kids going to the Swiss Farm. This was before the extension cover was built. There wasn’t even a road all the way to the top and we had to walk the last part. I experienced how our parents’ generation built and extended to what the Swiss farm has become now and I realise that for most of us, kids, the Swiss Club was our only connection to our Swiss roots. Being the next generation, I feel it’s my turn to help continue this legacy and I hope we can make more Swiss memories for our children and our children’s children.

Hi everyone my name is Nadia Behenna and I have recently joined the Auckland Swiss club committee meeting as a general committee member. I grew up in Zimbabwe. My parents were both from Switzerland and we were always celebrating Swiss club events there as we grew up. I moved to New Zealand in October 2015 with my husband and two children. It means a lot to now be part of the Swiss community here and feel at home again. Look forward to meeting you all on the near future.
